Terry Copper - Parent, Middle School Teacher and Red Belt

Alyssa, Terry and Tanner Copper

Looking back as an adult, aren't you amazed at how the positive and negative experiences of our childhood effect our adulthood? When was the last time you actively did something with your son or daughter? The Colorado Taekwondo Institute (CTI) offers us the opportunity to bond with our children and build those positive events in their lives. Besides a set curriculum that exercises our body and mind, CTI is fun! A typical class will include stretching, punches, kicks, and end with students working on Taekwondo pattern movements. All of this while under the watchful eye of a motivating and positive instructor. What a great way to spend an hour with your child!

The added bonus with CTI is the professionalism of their instructors. I like the peace of mind that my children are learning self defense while also being shaped positively by the instructors. CTI takes pride in their philosophy of caring for the whole student. Physically, mentally and spiritually you and your child will be challenged and will come away with an improved self-esteem and confidence that will positively impact the rest of your life. We all have played soccer or basketball, but only a select few can say they have a black belt. It's never too late to start an exercise program and it's never too late to build that bond between us and our children. With great enthusiasm and lots of hard work, I highly recommend the Colorado Taekwondo Institute.

Chris Radella - Parent

Michael and Chris Radella

Like many children his age, our 3 year old son Michael is a bit shy and insecure at times. A course in martial arts seemed logical to my wife and I as a way to potentially improve in those areas.

Colorado Taekwondo Institute was close to our home, so we decided to give it a try...

We could not have been more surprised by the impact that his short time at CTI has had on Michael. We are seeing positive changes not only in the obvious areas (coordination, dexterity, flexibility, etc.), but also in behaviors including respect, discipline and self control. I would like to share a brief example.

One of the routine times during the week when we would consistently see Michael become apprehensive about separating from us was on our way to Sunday School every week. Anticipating the separation into childcare for Michael was usually enough to make him nervous, anxious and sometimes bring him to tears.

Only a few weeks into his training at CTI, we were headed to Sunday School and as usual, Michael began to say that he did not want to go to his class. He then was quiet for a moment and without being prompted, Michael said to me, “Daddy, I’m going to use courage today and not cry about going to Sunday School.” This was the most recent concept reviewed with his instructors at CTI. Not only did he think of it and commit to being courageous, but he actually did it. No tears and no push back.

The constant focus and energy shared by the CTI staff is phenomenal. I recommend this experience to any parent.

Allison Melchior - Physical Education Teacher

My name is Allison Melchior and I am a Physical Education Teacher in Jefferson County Schools. I have worked with Colorado Taekwondo Institute since August 2010, however, their program has been at our school since March 2006. During this time they have come and taught students who have enrolled in the program two days a week. In addition to the weekly lessons Erik and the Colorado Taekwondo Institute have presented two assemblies for our school to show Taekwondo demonstrations and have the students show what they have learned in the program.

I have been very impressed with the program and the teachers at Colorado Taekwondo Institute. They provide a wonderful classroom environment for the students to learn Taekwondo skills in. Along with teaching the skills they educate the students the value of school work, dedication, and respecting others.   I would highly recommend this program to students of all ages who are interested in learning Taekwondo.

Learning and training in Moo Sul Kwan martial arts with the Colorado Taekwondo Institute has been a great and rewarding experience as an individual, but even more rewarding and fulfilling has been doing it along side with my family.  There have been many things in life which have driven me and have challenged me but I have to say the best thing that I have done was finding and joining the Colorado Taekwondo Institute with my wife and children. Not only has it given me the opportunity to do something that I love to do personally but I get to share my passion with my family. The time spent together in and of itself has been invaluable.

The CTI has taught me valuable life skills and skills that has helped me be a better parent such as discipline and self-control, how to manage anger and stress and focus it into something more positive. The great thing is that we have all learned these things together as a family. MSK Taekwondo has taught us how to communicate better and has helped build upon family principles and character. It has brought us closer together and have given us something in common that might not have been there before.
If you have the opportunity to spend time outside of the home with your family, such as martial arts , and to be able to spend that quality time learning something together that is challenging and rewarding and that could change your lives for the better then you should find that time. I would highly recommend classes at the CTI . To do the classes individually is beneficial and rewarding by itself but to do the classes knowing that your family is there learning the same things that you are and that you can go home and share those things and have the same goals puts it on a whole different level.  Even if you are in different classes at different times or days, you are still able to share the benefits together with your family through all of the hard work and discipline that you put into your training as individuals. At the CTI, everyone is accepted and it is a place that you can feel totally safe and supported just as a family should be.

Karen Carreon- Parent and Purple Belt

As a parent, I always knew that I wanted my children to go to a martial arts school, I just didn’t know what or where. I have two daughters who both attend classes at the Colorado Taekwondo Institute, Littleton Campus.  I originally chose the school because of close proximity.  I realize now with so many schools to choose from, proximity is only one small factor to consider.

I am truly lucky to have found such a wonderful program for my kids and now for myself too.  The instructors are so dedicated to providing quality lessons in a safe and positive environment. We are not only learning valuable skills but we are improving our physical and mental self, confidence, and self-esteem.  The students are a part of a team that support and encourage each other, all with incredible respect for the instructor, the program, and for one another. CTI is very family oriented with unscrupulous morals and integrity. We couldn’t be happier with the choice to learn martial arts at the Colorado Taekwondo Institute.
